Criado em 1970, o Centro Internacional de Pesquisas para o Desenvolvimento (IDRC) do Canadá é uma das instituições líderes no mundo na geração e aplicação de novos conhecimentos para atender aos desafi os do desenvolvimento internacional.

O IDRC tem trabalhado em colaboração estreita com pesquisadores da América Latina e do Caribe (ALC) desde o seu início. Já fi nanciou cerca de 2900 atividades de pesquisa - projetos de pesquisa e medidas de apoio - dirigidas e gerenciadas por pesquisadores e instituições da região.

Atualmente há cerca de 160 atividades de pesquisa em andamento, muitas das quais envolvem diversos países.
