Abstract
The Centre national de réhabilitation des handicapés d'Etoug-Ebe in Cameroon provides retraining and medical devices to the disabled. Its clients have always returned to the centre on a regular basis to have their medical needs addressed. Recently, however, they have tended to remain for longer stays. This could be explained by the fact that treatment is of an indefinite term, or that the disabled have been abandoned by their families and social circles. This grant will support a research project aimed at understanding why disabled persons are staying on in the institution, with a view to helping them reintegrate effectively into their families and communities.
