Abstract
How can Africa develop itself? This question, which was the primary concern of Africans with the arrival of independence more than 40 years ago, remains current to this day. It is even more crucial considering that the situation seems to be deteriorating in many respects. While it is true that recent years have seen renewed growth on the order of 5% in the region, the effects of this growth are not apparent in the everyday lives of the people. It is imperative to try to find ways of overcoming these challenges. It also is necessary to increase the impact of the results of these reflections through widely distributed publications. This activity aims to continue the reflection on the problem of sustainable development in the region of West and Central Africa. It will lead to a publication on sustainable development in the region, and help finalize publications on informal education, educational policies and philanthropy, and a book on research and development in the region.
