Abstract
Although the countries of West Africa have relatively low population densities, they have a potential for population growth that threatens to jeopardize current development efforts. This project aims to strengthen research capacity and ensure the dissemination of research results at the Unité d'enseignment et de recherche en démographie (UERD), Burkina Faso. Specifically, the project will enable UERD to complete analysis of the project "Factors Influencing Child Mortality"; complete analysis of the project "Family Structure and Education of Girls in Ouagadougou"; assure follow-up of the project "Impact of the Bagré Dam on Community Health"; develop the research protocol used in the project "Urban Integration in Ouagadougou"; and reinforce the UERD's documentation centre.
