    • International Model Forest Network
The International Model Forest Network Secretariat (IMFNS) was established at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in 1995, to support the development of a global network of model forests that would foster international exchange and cooperation in the concept of sustainable forest management.

    • Rural Poverty and Environment Management Program Initiative
This program initiative aims to integrate its support to natural resource management activities in rural areas of Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean into one global program.

    • Urban Poverty and the Environment (UPE) Program Initiative
This program funds research and activities in developing countries that apply integrated and participatory approaches to reducing environmental burdens on the urban poor and enhancing the use of natural resources for food, water and income security.

    Information and Communication Technologies
    • Pan Asia Networking
The Pan Asia Networking Program seeks to understand the positive and negative impacts of ICTs on people, culture, the economy, and society, so as to strengthen ICT uses that promote sustainable development on the Asian continent.

    • telecentre.org
telecentre.org is a collaborative initiative connecting telecentres, networks, innovators, social investors and other interested groups who believe that information and communication technology used locally, strengthens individuals and the communities where they live.

    Innovation, Policy & Science
    • Innovation, Policy and Science
The Innovation, Policy and Science (IPS) Program Area supports the development of science, technology and innovation policies to alleviate poverty in developing countries. IPS funds research on governance, public understanding, access and benefits associated with new technologies like biotechnology and nanotechnology. IPS is a platform within IDRC to link Canadian research and science policy communities to international cooperation and development. IPS is responsible for IDRC activities: Research on Knowledge Systems and New Technologies.

    Social and Economic Equity
    • Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA)
The Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA) Secretariat supports training and research in environmental and resource economics in the region.

    • Globalization, Growth and Poverty (GGP)
Aimed at enabling developing countries to design appropriate domestic policies and international integration strategies for promoting more inclusive and equitable growth.

    • Governance, Equity and Health
