The IDRC Regional Office in Dakar hosted a Workshop to present the findings of an exploratory study on collaboration methods and strategies on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, with Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD), through the Gender and Scientific Research Laboratory of the Fundamental Institute of Black Africa (IFAN). Due to the participatory approach of this study, it involved researchers, decision-makers, and national and international civil society stakeholders from Senegal and the subregion. Similarly, during the workshop, women researchers and academics from Benin, Guinea, Mali, DR Congo and Togo enriched the proceedings with their experiences, alongside their Senegalese colleagues. The themes addressed included the issue of institutionalizing teaching and research on gender at UCAD and in other teaching facilities in the West African subregion. You are invited to review the preliminary report of the study by Ms. Astou Diop-Diagne below; the publication of the final version is upcoming, following inclusion of the workshop proceedings.
