Abstract
The Somali National Peace and Reconciliation Conference has been going on since October 2002. The first phase of the peace talks were held in Eldorate and the second phase in Mbagathi, Nairobi. The aim of the process, led by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), is to secure sustainable peace for Somalia by establishing a government of national reconciliation. The IGAD Women's Desk has been working to ensure that women participate fully in the process. This grant will allow the Somali Women's Resource Centre in Mbagathi, Kenya, to advocate in favour of mainstreaming gender in the peace and reconciliation process.
