Abstract
Recognizing the importance of medicinal plants and the lack of research on traditional medicine in Malawi, research priorities have been suggested and tentatively discussed. However, these priorities have been developed with little or no consultation with stakeholders. With a view to rectifying the situation, this grant will support a workshop aimed at developing an inclusive policy framework to enhance collaboration between traditional medical practitioners and conventional doctors; implementing the Organisation of African Unity's Decade for Traditional Medicine (2001-2010); redefining research priorities in the field of medicinal plants; developing a project proposal based on stakeholders' recommendations; identifying potential research partners; and disseminating the results of medicinal plant research to stakeholders.
