Abstract
Information and communication technologies (ICTs) can potentially improve even small businesses' access to international trade. New opportunities are available to entrepreneurs, many of whom work in the textile and food industries. The Association for Support to Women Entrepreneurs (ASAFE) plans to hold a regional meeting and exhibition in order to increase entrepreneurs' awareness of ICTs. This regional meeting will give participants an opportunity to share information and find out about market opportunities, best practices, and lessons from current experiences; to understand the consequences of trade liberalization as well as the resulting threats and opportunities for telecommunications and trade; to become familiar with Internet surfing; and to find out more about designing Web pages and marketing using this tool. Participants will come from the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Chad and Togo. Other entrepreneurs from the African Diaspora and other regions will also be invited to the meeting.
