Abstract

IDRC's People, Land, and Water (PLaW) program initiative has financed several projects that have tested communication strategies in support of community-based management of natural resources in Burkina Faso. The projects are: Participatory Communication in Support of the Battle against Desertification in the Sahel (003524/97-0222 and 101338); Management of Competing Water Uses in the Nakanbé Basin (004391/98-1057 and 100844); Rural Communication and Sustainable Development (004260/98-4207 and 100249); and Developing a Model for Communication on Soil Fertility for Rural Women (003178/96-4020 and 100256). All these projects have completed their first phase of activity, and are continuing in a second. This grant will enable the project participants to share experiences, identify the lessons learned, and structure future activities accordingly. The information meetings will also provide an opportunity to cultivate a relationship with the women of Radio Munya.
