Abstract

Phase I of MIMAP (Micro Impacts of Macroeconomic and Adjustment Policies) - Bénin/Burkina Faso (96-1051/003238), made it possible to develop analytical skills and enhance team credibility in the eyes of various national and international stakeholders operating in Burkina Faso. Phase II will build on gains made to date, with two major changes: project management will be consolidated at the Centre d'études, de documentation, de recherches économiques et sociales (CEDRES), Université de Ouagadougo, and the research team and program will be reinforced through the addition of certain research modules. The project's goals are as follows: to help gain a better knowledge of household characteristics, especially among the most disadvantaged; arrive at a more in-depth understanding of economic and household behaviour in the face of changes in economic policy and the national environment; monitor the poverty levels of different population groups, especially the most vulnerable, so as to better focus anti-poverty policies; and establish a basis for analysis of the micro-social effects of macroeconomic and adjustment policy.
