The Canadian Partnerships Program of the Special Initiatives Division is a key element of the Centre’s overall program and partnering relationship with Canadians and their institutions. Through this program, the Centre ensures that it remains an active partner of the Canadian development and research communities by facilitating and supporting their connections with developing countries and enabling them to reflect international development and research issues in their work. As a member of a four-person team, the Senior Program Specialist takes the lead in managing a portfolio of Canadian Partnership projects with Canadian institutions, particularly universities, research institutions and non-governmental organizations, linked, as appropriate, with partner institutions in developing countries. The Senior Program Specialist oversees the management of a small grants program. He or she identifies critical and emerging issues and modalities in Canadian partnerships, and assists in the elaboration of the program’s strategy. As well, he or she develops, monitors, manages and evaluates projects, and plays a leading role in identifying, developing and managing IDRC’s contacts with Canadian institutions involved in development-related research, knowledge and networking activities.
Profil de candidature
Études
Graduate degree (Ph.D or Masters with equivalent experience), and a record of research and accomplishment in a discipline relevant to international development
Expérience
This position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, which includes: conducting research managing projects and developing budgets establishing and negotiating partnerships and collaboration agreements building and maintaining individual and institutional partner relationships preparing and presenting strategic policy or research documents administering competitive grant processes as an asset working in developing regions as an asset
Language
Poste bilingue (français et anglais) au niveau avancé Proficiency in Spanish is an asset
Connaissances
Knowledge of Canadian development and research communities (i.e. universities, non-government organizations, etc.) Knowledge of Canadian international development issues, policies and key agencies
