IndonesiaDLN received e-Award 2002 from the Indonesia Infocosm Business Community (i2bc)

The President of Republic Indonesia attended this event. IndonesiaDLN received Special Category award for the Most Favourite Program of the i2bc.

Indonesia Infocosm Business Community (i2bc) announced the evaluation result for the i2bc e-Award 2002 over companies, organisations, and institutions program that conduct business or social activities that have positive impact for the ICT development in Indonesia.

The i2bc e-Award 2002 is part of the ICT Award 2002 initiatives from the Ministry of Communication and Information Indonesia. The bestowal of the award was held at Hilton Hotel Jakarta on Monday (12/8/2002).

According to the nominations and categories, the winners have been selected from 21 finalists namely: BII Internet Banking for the Financial Category, APJII Indonesian Internet Exchange for the Non Profit Organization/Education, Indo.com for the Service Category, Berau Regional Government for the Public Service Category, and STOrman (Sentra Telepon Otomatis Rakyat Mandiri) of PT Quasar Cipta Mandiri for IT/Communication Industry Category.

Besides that, the Indonesian Digital Library Network (IndonesiaDLN) from Knowledge Management Research Group ITB was selected for the Special Category as Favorite Program of i2bc. This is the second award received by IndonesiaDLN. The first award was received from ASIST, American Society for Information Science and Technology, in 2001. This program received grants from International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and Yayasan Litbang Telekomunikasi dan Informatik (YLTI).

The evaluation was based on the four assessments to the programs that have been finished or being conducted by the participants. The assessments include mission, innovation, implementation, and achievement.

The assessments were conducted in two phases. The first phase, semi-final, was based on the completeness of the information submitted by the participants. The second phase, final, was presentation by the nominees. And the favourite program was selected based on the efforts to disseminate knowledge and the range of penetration in the community that congruent with the i2bc missions.

The i2bc is an independent organization for businessman that is based on information and communication technology. This organization was founded by Accenture and SWA Magazine. The i2bc e-Award is an appreciation arena to parties that have achievement in developing ICT in Indonesia.
