Abstract
Aware of the important role of science and technology research for its development, Burkina Faso started, in 1987, to plan for a nationally coordinated structure of all its research activities. The creation of a national network for the dissemination of information for a more rational utilization of scientific means and skills was one of the plan's main components. This project will help organize data collecting procedures; data up-dating; creation of various data bases; and data analysis and dissemination through reports and directories of institution programs and projects. It will also organize and train scientific and technical personnel. With the help of this project, Burkina Faso will be the first country in the region to develop a permanent information system and a research inventory managed by the national coordinating body of this sector.
