Abstract
IDRC's People, Land and Water (PLaW) program initiative supports research on natural resource management in Africa and the Middle East. It aims to help people improve their living conditions through activities designed to increase their access to water and land, and encourage sustainable use of these resources. This grant will support an evaluation visit to five of the initiative's projects in Burkina Faso. The visit will take place during 6-15 May 2002 and be followed by a meeting. The participants will address questions of gender, communication, community participation and conflict management, and formulate recommendations within a community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) framework. The findings will be disseminated within the program initiative's research network in Africa and the Middle East.
