Market competition has the potential to improve market efficiency, reduce poverty, and redress social inequality.
 
But policy makers must remember that when it comes to competition policy, one size does not fit all.
 
Researchers have studied the unique effects of monopolies, anti-competitive practices and consumer opinion in the diverse economies of Uzbekistan, Jamaica and Zambia. Countries must design laws and regulations to fit their particular economies and levels of development.
