IDRC Governor Andy Knight has been awarded the Black Business and Professional Association of Canada (BBPA) 2010 Harry Jerome Trailblazer award.

Dr Knight, who chairs the political science department at the University of Alberta, is the seventh person to receive the Trailblazer award.

The BBPA Harry Jerome awards were created in 1983 in honour of Canadian track and field athlete, Harry Jerome. Each year BBPA honours excellence in African-Canadian achievement.

Andy Knight joined IDRC’s Board of Governors in 2007. He also serves on a number of boards that work to advance education and research of human rights, peace, and security issues.
