The 2008 Global Ministerial Forum on Research for Health is the culmination of nearly 20 years of global efforts to focus research toward improving the health of poor people.

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is a leader in global health research and has supported the growth, exchange, and application of knowledge for local solutions to local health problems.

IDRC and the Global Health Research Initiative, both operating through the program in Research for Health Equity, seek to make major contributions to the success of the Forum through pre-conference sessions, the opening reception, and a special session within the Forum.
