About IDRC-SARO
Asia_South_e.jpg

IDRC’s Regional office for South Asia and China (SARO) was established in New Delhi in 1983. The office covers  Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and China.

SARO is headed by a Regional Director in collaboration with a small international program team. Along with colleagues based in IDRC’s Ottawa headquarters and in other regional offices, the South Asia program team explores opportunities to support local communities and organisations in IDRC’s program areas. The focus of SARO`s activities has evolved over the years in response to the changing needs and priorities of the countries it serves.
