IDRC, through its Regional Office for West and Central Africa and with the support of the “Innovation, Policy and Science” Program, has joined UNESCO and the Ministry of Scientific Research of Senegal in supporting the activities of the 5th Session of World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST) , and more specifically the Forum of Young African Researchers organized on Wednesday, December 6, 2006. The Forum of Young African Researchers provided an opportunity for young scientists to share their views and ideas on the ethics of science and technology. The central theme of the forum is social responsibility of researchers in Africa. Throughout the day, young African researchers of both genders from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Congo, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa had the opportunity to exchange their thoughts, approaches and specific questions on several topics:
