IDRC Announces Support for Uganda's Lacor Hospital

As part of its activities at the 16th International AIDS Conference in Toronto, Canada, IDRC hosted a reception for its partners and associates. The Centre announced that it is providing CA $250 000 to the Lacor Hospital in northern Uganda over five years as part of its contribution to the Teasdale-Corti Global Health Research Partnership Program.

IDRC Announces New Research Program on Communicable Diseases in Latin America and the Caribbean
IDRC is dedicating CA $1 million to new research to prevent and control vector-borne communicable diseases in Latin America and the Caribbean. Vector-borne diseases are caused by parasites, viruses, or bacteria that insects or other carriers transmit from an infected person to an uninfected one.

IDRC and Microsoft Launch Rural Innovation Fund in India
IDRC and Microsoft India have jointly launched a US $200 000 Rural Innovation Fund. It will help the software industry in smaller cities throughout India to develop low-cost applications and solutions customized to the needs of their communities.
