Spreading the message in Sri Lanka

In the war-torn northern part of Sri Lanka, the Internet is being combined with good old-fashioned pen and paper to overcome basic communications struggles. With roads in and out of the Jaffna peninsular cut and most air services suspended, the only postal service must go by sea to Colombo in the south. However, an innovative service started by a local Internet company cuts the delivery time down to a couple of days – and neither the sender nor the receiver needs access to a computer or a phone line.
