IDRC at the World Congress on Public Health
The 11th World Congress on Public Health is taking place 21-25 August 2006 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with an estimated 10 000 people expected to attend. IDRC, through its Governance, Equity and Health and Ecosystem Approaches to Human Health (Ecohealth) programs, is sponsoring eight panels that will include the participation of approximately 40 researchers from 17 countries from Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe.

Third World Urban Forum Hits a Responsive Chord

If sheer numbers are any measure of success, then the third session of the World Urban Forum (WUF3) was a runaway hit. Held in Vancouver, Canada, 19-23 June, UN-Habitat's biennial event attracted some 10 000 participants from more than 100 countries. IDRC's Kevin Conway attended the event.
