The Brazilian Institute for the Environment, BIOSFERA, is hosting FOREST 2000: The Sixth International Congress and Exhibition on Forests. This event will be held from October 23-26 in the Porto Seguro Convention Center, Porto Seguro, Bahia, Brazil. The Congress is expecting more than 2,000 participants from over 40 countries, who will discuss technical, scientific, political, economic, social, and cultural issues concerning forests and the environment in Brazil and around the world, with special attention to the protection and conservation of the Amazon rainforest.
