The IPCC is the world's leading scientific body for the assessment of climate change, established by the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Meteorological Organization. Its periodic assessment reports are authoritative, and provide governments and the public with a clear scientific view on the current state of climate change and its potential impacts. The following CCAA associates will be contributing to Working Group 2, which assesses climate change impacts, adaptation and vulnerability. -- Program Leader Fatima Denton is a Coordinating Lead Author on Chapter 20: Climate-resilient pathways: adaptation, mitigation, and sustainable development -- Abdellatif Khattabi, leader of a CCAA project on Moroccan coastal management in the context of climate change , is a Lead Author on Chapter 5 — Coastal systems and low-lying areas -- Debra Roberts, leader of an urban pilot project in South Africa through the CCAA-supported Advancing Capacities to Support Climate Change Adaptation (ACCAA) intiative, is a Lead Author on Chapter 8 - Urban areas -- Tom Mitchell, leader of CCAA's knowledge sharing intiative AfricaAdapt, is a Lead Author on Chapter 13 - Livelihoods and poverty -- Balgis Osman Elasha, Vice Chair of CCAA's Advisory Board, is a Lead Author on Chapter 14 - Adaptation needs and options -- Johnson Ndi Nkem, original leader of a CCAA project on Altering the climate of poverty under climate change: the forests of Congo Basin, is a Lead Author on Chapter 15 - Adaptation planning and implementation -- Ibrahim Elshinawwy, co-leader of a CCAA project on Adaptation to the impacts of sea level rise in the Nile Delta coastal zone in Egypt, is also a Lead Author on Chapter 15 - Adaptation planning and implementation -- Mohamed Abdrabo, co-leader with Elshinawwy on the Nile Delta project in Egypt , is Lead Author on Chapter 22 - Africa -- John Stone, IDRC Visiting Fellow working with CCAA from April 2006 to 2009, is Lead Author on Chapter 28 - Polar Regions
These CCAA associates will be contributing to Working Group 1, which assesses the physical science basis of climate change. -- Fatima Driouech, member of the research team working on the project on Moroccan coastal management in the context of climate change , is Lead Author on Chapter 9 - Evaluation of Climate Models -- Babatunde Abiodun, one of the supervisors for the African Climate Change Fellowship Program fellows working with the Climate Systems Analysis Group at the University of Cape Town, is also Lead Author on Chapter 9 - Evaluation of Climate Models
